Assumptions

A 7th grade Algebra I student was having difficulty with algebra problems having variables on both sides of an equations. Again, with a little instruction he did those type problems perfectly. PARENTS: Why are students NOT being taught these same things by the paid teachers? This student had a one and a half hour 48 problem test. The teacher was absent and a substitute sat in to monitor. My student confided in me that he ONLY finish 29 of the problems. Knowing he was a very sharp math person who simply lacks self-confidence, I asked him why? He said that when he was working on #29, he looked up toward the ceiling (thinking) - the sub noticed and immediately ASSUMED he was cheating off the boy beside him. After this sub took both papers from the boys, my student found out the other boy was only working on problems #15, so there is no way he was cheating. PARENTS: Is your student being treated poorly in the classroom? You NEED to know what is really going on in every class.
