Pre-Algebra Tutoring

Today I started with a brand new 7th grade Pre-Algebra student – his FREE session. He had Failed math on his first report card. He is an only child living with just his Mom. On his assessment quiz, he worked numerous problems correctly but no work was shown (which I asked to see on the paper). Of the eight problems on fractions and decimals, he had one correct answer. He had NO homework assignment tonight!?! We spent time working out all 17 problems step-by-step. He stated he did have problems with fractions and decimals but now he understood them. I asked him to keep the solutions paper in his math note book for easy reference should he need a refresher on a day he was not scheduled for tutoring. He was well pleased with having me as his tutor.
