I trust you will take these examples to lead your child in the direction of a successful life. As for teachers reading this book, my ambition for you is you have found bits and pieces to make you the best teacher you can possibly be, which will hopefully multiply your love of teaching. And for that one SPECIAL STATE SUPERINTENDENT, I beg you to PLEASE launch the suggestions I put forth that WILL TRANSFIGURE AMERICA’S SCHOOLS back to prominence.

Global Math Rank

The U. S. has dropped to the #27 ranking globally in math; with science and reading also in double digits worldwide and all three are falling. To apply, begin using the innovative strategies set forth in this book. We do not want the cutthroat competition some countries presently have in place. America needs a positive, dynamic leader who is not afraid to step forward nationally to reinstate our students back towards #1. You will be recognized as a modern day Horace Man. Are you that leader? #Math

Two Home-Schooled Students...

Two 9th grade Algebra I home-schooled students, who have finished their years and each recorded an “A”, came for tutoring. Their algebra book was not very strong, so we did reviewing of problems from old state End of Course tests. Each student did learn a few more concepts and re-enforced others.
Teachers: This book is full of tremendous teaching methods to help you become a better teacher. From numerous examples, you will see this book is a valuable resource in proper math teaching techniques, to help you REACH EVERY CHILD!!! You may question that; however, in all my years of teaching NO CHILD I taught ever failed math in my class. You will see many pitfalls that entrap teachers, who become labeled as poor teachers. You will learn to be predictable and maintain a structured teaching routine, as opposed to “experimenting” with unproven educational methods. Many discipline tactics are also presented.

A 7th grade ADHD Pre-Algebra student

A 7th grade ADHD Pre-Algebra student has not had any new school worked! He stated that school was becoming boring. We worked on some old state End of Grade tests involving algebra problems, with some being word problems. He was excellent with these questions.

Early College program

A 9th grade home-schooled student, who has already earned an “A” for her year-end grade, came for tutoring. Our goal for the next few weeks is to strengthen her weak points. She will be changing to an Early College program next fall and she may be required to take their test on algebra proficiency.

Learning faster

As learning requires reading, well, Kwik can read alright. Most folks put away text between 200-250 words-per-minute (wpm). Kwik fires through heavy technical tomes at about 500 wpm; he devours light fiction at upwards of 1300 wpm. And he can remember what he reads. http://www.forbes.com/sites/stevenkotler/2013/06/02/learning-to-learn-faster-the-one-superpower-everyone-needs/

SAT Practice

An 8th grade home-schooled Algebra I student, who received an “A” for the year arrived for tutoring today. He has a weakness in the basics, as he had attended a low performing school for his first seven years. His Mom (principal/teacher) has not decided which math course he will take in the fall. I recommended he take geometry to help prepare him better for the S. A. T. We spent our time solidifying his Algebra I by working an old state End of Course test.

End of Grade Test

A 7th grade ADHD Pre-Algebra student, who still is school, came for tutoring. His teacher has not taught any math since their state End of Grade test on Wednesday last week. As a matter of record, this class has had NO new curriculum instruction over the past nine weeks (the entire grading period), as they have been “teaching the test”!?!
